BitChimney Setup Instructions

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the front as shown below.
  2. Connect the IEC C13 end of the power cable into Bitchimney and plug the other end into your power socket
  3. Wait for about 15 seconds for BitChimney’s Vonets VAP11G-300 Wifi Bridge to broadcast its setup WiFi network.
  4. Using a computer or mobile phone connect to Vonets Wi-Fi network named VONETS_2.4G_XXXX. Password is 12345678
  5. Open http://vonets.cfg or on an internet browser on the device you connected to Vonets Wi-Fi network.
  6. On the login page that appears enter ‘admin’ for both username and password and click on Login button.
  7. On the page that appears, click on the wizard tile.
  8. You will see a list of available WiFi networks. Select the one you want to use for BitChimney and click Next
  9. Enter the password of the selected WiFi network and click Apply. (Please make sure to enter password accurately, failure to enter the right password will require restarting this process)
  10. Click on Reboot.
  11. Wait for about 2 minutes for Vonets WiFi bridge to reboot. You can then locate Bitchimney’s IP address on your Network using an IP scanner, BTCTools, or other network scanning software.
  12. Login to Bitchimney webUI using the IP address. The password is ‘admin’.
  13. Configure pool and workername, then click save.
  14. Bitchimney comes configured with two performance modes. Normal Mode at 750Watts and High Power Mode at ~1000Watts. These two modes are fully autotuned before shipment.
  15. You can try other modes to get various hashrates and thermal output. Autotuning for each mode takes about 4 hours.

Bitchimney uses a Vonets VAP11G-300 Wi-Fi Bridge to connect to the internet.  You may need to factory reset the bridge to allow it to connect to a new Wi-Fi network. There are 3 ways to connect to Vonets Wifi Bridge to factory reset the device. You can use either one.

  1. Direct Line Connection: Plug the ethernet cable from Bitchimney directly into a computer. This will create a physical connection between the Wi-Fi Bridge and the computer.
  2. Wifi Connection: This can be used to connect to the Vonets bridge when Bitchimney is connected to the existing wifi network. Use a network scanner like Advanced IP scanner to locate the IP address of vonets bridge. It will show up with device name vonets.lan and manufacturer name as Tiger NetCom.
  3. Connect via extension network: Vonets Wi-Fi bridge typically creates an extension network when you first set it up. You can connect to this extension network, even when away from the initial Wi-Fi. The extension network is named OriginalNetworkName_XX . You can connect to this network using the same password as the original Wi-Fi network.

Once connected to Vonets bridge using one of 3 three ways listed above, open a browser window on the connected computer and open vonets.cfg page. Login using ‘admin’ as both username and password

Then click on Wizard>System Settings>Advanced Settings >Restore Default Settings and click the reset button to factory reset the Wi-Fi bridge. Wait for about 30 seconds for vonets to reboot. You are now ready to pair it to a new Wi-Fi network.

  1. Single Antminer S19 Hashboard (You can use any existing hashboard or purchase one from us). All S19 hashboards fit inside the bitchimney case except the 88 chip S19 models.
  2. Bitmain APW3++ Power Supply (modified to output 13.6V)
  3. Xilinx Control Board
  4. 18 pin Signal Cable
  5. Loki Kit
  6. Four 4 AWG 1/4″ & two 18 AWG 1/4″ ring terminal connectors
  7. 4 AWG Copper Cables (two cables , 9 inch long each)
  8. Vonets Wifi Bridge
  9. 4x 120mm PWM fans (option A, option B)
  10. 16x M4x45m screws for mounting the fans & 4x M3 x 10mm screws (for mounting control board)
  11. Nema 5-15 to IEC C13 Power cord

  1. Crimping Tool
  2. Phillips head screwdriver
  3. Wire stripping tool
  4. Soldering kit
  1. Modify your APW3++ PSU to higher voltage needed for running S19 series antminers. We choose 13.6V for most of our S19 builds since this voltage is sufficient to run most S19 series single hashboards upto 1200Watts (APW3++ wattage upper limit on 120V). Procedure for voltage modification on APW3++ PSU is listed on Pivotal Pleb Tech’s voltage modification guide.
  2. Strip about 1/2 inch section from both ends of 9 inch long 4 AWG cables. Also strip 1/2 inch section from the 6 cables from the PCIe connector and do the same for 2 cables from vonets wifi bridge.
  3. Use the crimping tool to attach ring terminals to both ends of the 4 awg cables. Repeat this for the 6 pin PCIe connector cables and vonets wifi bridge. Note that vonets wifi bridge can easily share ring connector with the cables from 6 pin PCIe connector. You can then use heat shrink tubing to seal the connection joints.
  4. Connect these cables to the modified APW3++ PSU as shown in this image. Make sure to double check the polarity of the connections. Incorrect polarity will permanently damage the hashboard & other electronic components in the build.
  5. Before you start the assembly, here’s a parts diagram for your reference. All 3D printed parts snap-fit via tongue & groove joints.
  6. Attach the stand to the lowerbody (snap fit)
  7. Then screw on the 120mm fans using M4 x 45mm screws.
(Optional -For a cleaner build, excess fan cable can be wrapped around the fan body, so it’s long enough to just reach the fan connectors on the control board)
  8. Attach the 120 mm fans to upperbody using M4x45 mm screws
  9. Slide the hashboard into the hashboard slot as shown in this image
  10. Insert the PSU into the PSU cavity and route the cables as shown here
  11. [Optional] We use cable ties to strap down the PSU and a plastic insert to prevent it from moving around while shipping. Both these items are not needed for building the unit in place.
  12. Attach the upper body to the lower body.
  13. Align the faceplate to the Xilinx control board, and then mount the control board to the side of lowerbody using four M3 x 10mm screws
  14. Connect the two PSU power cables to the hashboard. Connect the 4x PWM fan cables, Control board power cable (yellow and black, 6 pin molex connector), ethernet cable, hashboard data cable and loki kit to the control board as shown below. Make sure to double check the polarity of the hashboard power connection. Reverse polarity will cause permanent damage the hashboard.
  15. Attach the Crown to the upper body. Your Bitchimney unit is now ready to be powered up.
  16. Choose an aftermarket firmware like BraiinsOS, Vnish or LuxOS to run bitchimney. All 3 firmware are pretty comparable in terms of features and can be run via SD card on the xilinx control board. Use Balena etcher to burn the firmware image on an SD card, and then insert it into the xilinx control board.
  17. Power up and connect to WiFi, then login to the webUI to enter your pool credentials
  18. Bask in the glory of quiet 120V ASIC heat!
